Questions
What counts as a user?
A user is a person with a portal account, admins included. External recipients, people who only receive packages, are never counted. Paid plans have no user limit. Free mode allows 5 active users.
What happens when a license ends?
Farwing Server drops to Free mode. Nothing is deleted and nobody is locked out. A paid license keeps every feature for 14 more days first; a trial ends on its last day. Users over 5 become view-only and can still log in and download. Extra hot folders, sync jobs and event rules pause, and start again when you load a new license. Single sign-on and LDAP sign-ins keep working, and virus scanning stays on.
How do trials work?
Open the license page on your Farwing Server, or the setup wizard, and click Start 30-day trial. Enter your work email, type the code we send, and the trial loads. It includes everything, with no speed cap. Each company email domain gets one trial. The server contacts license.farwing.io only when you click the button.
Do free clients slow down a paid server?
No. When the far end is a licensed Farwing Server, the server's license sets the speed. A free Farwing Desktop downloading from a Business server can reach 10 Gbit/s.
What is a standby server?
Standby server: a second install you can switch to if the first one fails. Switching is manual. Enterprise includes one. On another plan it adds 25% of the speed price. It is for failover only, not a second live server. How failover works
How is a custom license priced?
By speed, plus a share of the speed price for each feature. With the portal, hot folders and sync, the API, S3 and branding all on, you save 20%. Priority support adds 15% of the license total, at least $1,500, once per customer. Custom licenses start at $1,500 a year.
Can I buy a perpetual license?
Yes. 3× the yearly price, then 20% a year for updates and support. We confirm by email. A perpetual license keeps working after its end date and covers every Farwing version released before that date.
How do I pay and renew?
Send a request from this page or from your server, and we reply by email with your quote and your license. Your server reminds admins before the license ends. Renewals are at the current price, with 60 days' notice of any change.
